The Coquitlam man accused in a December crime spree that included an alleged sexual assault and carjacking is now facing several more charges.

Vahidreza Bordbar, 31, was first charged with one count of break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and two counts of sexual assault with a weapon.

Since then, an additional 10 charges have been added: assault; assault causing bodily harm; two counts of robbery; disguising face with intent to commit an offence; use of a firearm during an offence; possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose; pointing a firearm; theft of a motor vehicle; and attempting to choke to overcome resistance.

According to Port Moody Police, two young women were walking on a trail near Heritage Mountain community hall just after midnight on Dec. 15 when a man attacked them from behind, knocking one woman to the ground. She fought him off but the suspect stole her purse, which contained her keys and identification, and fled the area.

At about 8 a.m. the same day, a man went to the young woman's house brandishing a gun, police said, but the homeowner - the father of the young woman who was attacked the previous day - fought off the suspect.

A short time later, Coquitlam RCMP reported a man matching the Port Moody suspect's description had sexually assaulted a woman on Eagle Mountain as he stole her car.

Officers located the vehicle and after a brief pursuit, the suspect was arrested.

Bordbar remains in custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance today (Wednesday).
