Coquitlam RCMP are seeking the public's help in identifying a group of men who reportedly attacked a 37-year-old Coquitlam man for no apparent reason.
The man was walking in the 3100-block of Westwood Street in Port Coquitlam, near a hand car wash and detail business, when the group attacked him with some type of weapon sometime between 8:30 and 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
The victim suffered moderate but non-life threatening head injuries and was able to fend off the attackers, who fled in two or three cars when they saw a vehicle approaching.
"The victim was understandably in a traumatic experience and he wasn't able to get an exact count of his attackers," said Cpl. Jamie Chung, nor was he able to get much of a description other than they were Asian.
"What we're really hoping for here is that these suspects brag about it to someone, and we urge those people to come forward and talk to us," Chung said. "Or maybe someone who drove by saw two or three cars leave very quickly and they were able to get a licence plate number or model."
The victim was able to call for help after the attackers fled.
Chung said the attack was an isolated incident.
