A Coquitlam man is facing charges after Langley RCMP drug section officers witnessed him allegedly hand a bag of marijuana to an Ontario man at a hotel parking lot.
RCMP officers, acting on an anonymous tip about marijuana being transported back east from B.C., seized 17.5 pounds of pot and $123,590 on Wednesday.
A 50-year-old Ontario man was also arrested and a 2005 Volvo semi truck he was travelling in was seized. More than $120,000 was found in the truck and another $2,000 was found in the possession of the Coquitlam man, according to police.
Mounties said the alleged seller holds a valid Health Canada licence to possess and produce marijuana.
"Health Canada will only revoke the licence if the man is found guilty of a designated substance offence, a process which may take several years," said Langley RCMP Cpl. Craig Van Herk.
Both men have been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date. Police will be recommending charges of trafficking and possession.
