Two Coquitlam musicians will showcase their talents at a free summer show in Vancouver.

Saina Khaledi and Ali Sajjadi are part of an ensemble called Saaz o Raaz, which performs on Aug. 15 at Mount Pleasant Park (West 16th Ave. at Ontario Street).

Their pop-up concert that also includes Ali Razmi, Shanranjeet Singh Mand and Sunny Matharu begins at 6:30 p.m.

A santour instructor at Capilano University, Khaledi was named the winner of the Iranian Santour Festival in 2003.

She has a bachelor’s degree in music from Tehran Music University and has played around the world — as a soloist or in groups, such as the Vashaan Ensemble, Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra, BC Chinese Music Ensemble and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Started during the COVID-19 pandemic by Music on Main and supported by The Lloyd Carr–Harris Foundation, the Summer Pop-Up Concerts series aims to bring music to all ages in an urban space.
