Applications are now open for youth aged 16-21 to engage in the community and federal government.

Tri-Cities youth aged 16 to 21 with a flair for politics are now encouraged to apply to join a political roundtable.

The Coquitlam/Port Coquitlam youth council, a non-partisan group comprised of 13 teens and young adults with a strong desire to have a positive and substantial impact in the world, is now open for applications — and all local youth interested in learning more about Canada's political processes are encouraged to apply.

It is an opportunity to discuss issues that matter to you with your local MP and get involved in the community, a news release noted.

The council meets regularly throughout the year with Coquitlam—Port Coquitlam MP Ron McKinnon to discuss a variety of issues and topics important to each member.

It is a chance for youth to get to know their local MP, learn about politics, engage in policy discussions and share ideas, collaborate on events and projects, meet new people and make an impact in the community.

Applications are open until Oct. 15 for youth to be able to explore future volunteer opportunities and also engage with the community and the federal government.
