Coquitlam RCMP hope to ID alleged chainsaw thief

Police are hoping a member of the public will be able to help investigators identify a man that allegedly tried to shoplift a chainsaw from a store at Coquitlam Centre. The incident occurred on Nov. 1 at around 8:45 p.m.

Police are hoping a member of the public will be able to help investigators identify a man that allegedly tried to shoplift a chainsaw from a store at Coquitlam Centre.

The incident occurred on Nov. 1 at around 8:45 p.m. when a loss prevention officer spotted the suspect tucking the item under his arm and leaving the store without paying for it. When security chased the man, he dropped the electric chain saw and fled the scene.

Coquitlam RCMP said the man is South Asian with brown hair, a beard and mustache. He is approximately 5'11" and weighs 170 lbs. with a unique tattoo on the left side of his calf.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black/grey ball cap, a black hoodie over a black t-shirt with light green camouflage shorts and white runners.
