A man who allegedly used a fake driver’s licence to rent an apartment before cleaning out the property of thousands of dollars worth of appliances is being sought by the Coquitlam RCMP.
Investigators are hoping a tip from the public will help track down the suspect, who took baseboard heaters, a fireplace, chandeliers and a thermostat from the unit, located in Coquitlam, where he had resided for several months.
“Help from the public might be key to identifying a suspect and solving an investigation of fraud and theft that resulted in extensive damage to a rental property,” the Coquitlam RCMP said in a statement Wednesday.
The landlord describes the suspect as a Caucasian male with short brown hair, blonde highlights and a thick beard. He is approximately five feet six inches tall and may go by the fictitious name of “Corey Lyndon.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP’s non-emergency line at 604-945-1550 and ask for Const. Genevieve St-Louis (file number 2020-8016). Those who wish to remain anonymous and possibly collect a reward can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800222-8477 or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
