Coquitlam RCMP need witnesses to fatal car crash

Witnesses of a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred last week are being asked to come forward in order for police to piece together exactly what happened.

The collision took place at around 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 when a red Buick turned left at Dewdney Trunk Road from the Lougheed Highway at the same time a black Mercedes entered the intersection heading south.

The force of the impact was enough to cause a secondary collision with a black Acura CSX that had that had been stopped at a red light on Dewdney Trunk Road at Lougheed.

"The investigation is in its early stages and it's too early to speculate whether charges will be laid," said Coquitlam RCMP Traffic Services Sgt. Dave Fee. "A moment of carelessness could cost someone their life."

He said drivers must use caution when approaching intersections and should always stop for red or yellow lights.

INFO SOUGHT

The Coquitlam RCMP are seeking a victim and a suspect in a hit-and-run collision that knocked a pedestrian tot he ground at Shaughnessy Street and Lougheed Highway last week.

Police said that a white Ford F250 pickup truck heading southbound on allegedly did not stop before entering a crosswalk and hit a pedestrian. The vehicle sped off and did not offer any assistance to the person that had been hit.

The victim also left the scene and several witnesses said they saw no observable injuries.

Officers made patrols in the area looking for the pedestrian in an attempt to check on his well being but he was nowhere to be found.

The incident occurred at 1:10 p.m. on Aug. 10 and Coquitlam RCMP is asking the public for any assistance that could help locate the victim, who is described as a 15-year-old male who goes by the name Robby.
