The Coquitlam RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect they allege cashed a fraudulent cheque at a local MoneyMart in June.

The Coquitlam RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect they allege cashed a fraudulent cheque at a local MoneyMart in June.

According to the police, a woman was able to cash a fake cheque for a substantial amount after providing a false name, other personal information and identification. The cheque was later returned by the bank, which said it had been altered or counterfeit.

The woman is described as dark skinned, with short reddish hair cut just below her ears. She is believed to be in her 30s.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency reporting line at 604-945-1550. Those who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477.
