The Coquitlam RCMP are looking for a suspect responsible for a rash of robberies in the Austin Heights neighbourhood since the beginning of the month.
In three incidents, which occurred on August 2, 6, and 8, the suspect entered a business and demanded cash from the register. In one instance, at a pharmacy, he also stole prescriptions.
"We have a team of investigators working the case and we believe the same individual is responsible for these robberies in the area," said Cpl. Albert Lam of the Coquitlam RCMP robbery section. "We want the area shop keepers to be vigilant and call 911 immediately if they see anyone matching the description. Please don't approach him because we believe he may be armed."
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male between 20 and 24 years old. He is 6'0" to 6'2" and weighs approximately 190 to 215 lbs and has dark brown hair.
In all three robberies he was seen wearing a black hoodie with a red logo, a black balaclava and gloves.
"His clothing was very unseasonal for this time of the year," Lam said. "He should be easily recognized."
Police believe the suspect is possibly new to the area and could reside in the neighbourhood.
Anyone with any information about the suspect is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2012-21754. Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stopper at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or going to www.solvecrime.ca.
