The Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam will close the pool for its annual cleaning, for four weeks starting on May 31.

If you’re looking to take a dip at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex next month, you’ll be out of luck.

The city will close the Coquitlam tank for its annual scrub from May 31 to June 27.

The pool will reopen on June 28.

The deep cleaning will also extend to the centre’s fitness area, which will shutter from May 31 to June 6 and reopen on June 7.

However, the rinks will continue to be operational during the centre maintenance: Arena 1 and 2 will be open for dry floor activities while Arena 3 will be available for ice skating.

OTHER FACILITIES

Meanwhile, Coquitlam residents who want to swim during Poirier’s four-week closure can head over to the:

  • City Centre Aquatic Complex (CCAC): 1210 Pinetree Way
  • Eagle Ridge Outdoor Pool: 2689 Guildford Way
  • Spani Outdoor Pool: 655 Hillcrest St.

As well, the temporary fitness centre at the Innovation Centre (1207 Pinetree Way) — across from CCAC — is open for pre-registered drop-ins. That workout space was moved to the Innovation Centre in February to accommodate CCAC’s current expansion.

To sign up for pool and fitness fun, call 604-927-4386 or visit coquitlam.ca/registration (click on Register for Programs and, in the Drop In section, click Fitness or Swimming). Physical distancing and face mask protocols are in place at all civic facilities.
