Snow is predicted to stick above 200 metres with heavy rain forecast for lower elevations across Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Coquitlam and the surrounding region, noting 50 millimetres could fall on Metro Vancouver through Wednesday.

The warning comes as a Pacific frontal system is expected to track over the Lower Mainland beginning Wednesday evening. Rainfall is predicted to ease by Thursday morning.

Freezing levels are forecast to drop to 200 metres tonight, leading to between two and five centimetres of localized snowfall.

At lower elevations across the Tri-Cities, Environment Canada is urging drivers to exercise caution as the rains may trigger flash flooding and pooled water along roads.

The rainfall warning also applies to the North Shore, Vancouver, Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley and New Westminster
