A Coquitlam teen has been tapped for a prestigious showcase event featuring some of the best hockey players in all of Canada.
Matthew Seminoff is set to show off his skills in front of professional scouts, coaches and general managers when he suits up for the 2022 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on March 23.
The 18-year-old is currently in the middle of a career season in the Western Hockey League (WHL) — his third with the Kamloops Blazers.
As of this publication (Feb. 19), Seminoff has recorded 44 points in 42 games including 19 goals and 25 assists.
His stats are the third highest among his Blazer teammates and in the top 40 in all of the WHL.

He is one of 40 players across the country selected to participate in the top prospects game, which will pin two teams against each other in a friendly competition setting.
In addition to bragging rights, players entering the event can make their case as a potential draft pick in the summer.
The contest is in association with NHL Central Scouting, which currently has Seminoff placed 50th among North American skaters.
In his WHL stint, he's combined for 35 goals and 75 points in 113 games — all with Kamloops.
Prior to his major junior promotion, Seminoff suited in 72 games over two seasons with Burnaby Winter Club and recorded 82 points.
In 2019, he was chosen to represent Team B.C. at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta., where he registered four goals and five points in seven games.
He'll also share the ice with two of his fellow Blazers, Fraser Minten and Mats Lindgren, as well as 12 others from the WHL.
The 2022 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game is scheduled for March 23 in Kitchener, Ont. at 5 p.m. PST.
