FVRL is excited to welcome author Robin Stevenson for a virtual Pride Month program!

How did Pride come to be? What does Pride mean to the people who celebrate it? Learn about the history of Pride, the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people and communities, and what activists do to carry Pride forward.

Kid Activists: Find Your Voice, Change the World

June 8, 10 to 11 a.m.

Robin Stevenson, author of “KID ACTIVISTS: True Tales of Childhood from Champions of Change” will introduce kids to activism. From what fuels activists, to how they help create a better future, come and get inspired to use your voice to create change.

Creative Writing Workshop with Robin Stevenson

June 15: 6 to 7 p.m.

Join award-winning author Robin Stevenson for a comprehensive writing workshop! Participants will explore how they can use their own experiences and curiosity to create compelling writing and convincing characters, discuss strategies for finding story ideas; develop their skills at creating complex and believable characters; and discover how well-developed characters can help uncover new story possibilities. Kid’s Writing Club

Ages 9-12. Are you an aspiring writer? Join a writing club just for you. We will do fun activities, writing games, have special guests, and work on our own projects. There are two sessions available:

In Person: Wednesdays, May 4 - June 15, 4-5 pm

Online: Thursdays, May 5 - June 16, 4-5 pm

 

D&D for Tweens

Ages 12-15. Adventurers! Let us search for glory and treasure together in a D&D game on Zoom. We will be playing a Level 10 adventure, experience playing D&D required. This is a six-week program, held online every Friday from May 6 to June 10, 4-5 pm.

 

White Pines Gala 2022

Celebrate the newest additions to our White Pines Local Author Collection at this in-person gala! Join us at the Inlet Theatre while we celebrate Port Moody’s vibrant community of writers. Meet the newest White Pines authors and hear each of them do a reading from their newest book. There will be a short author Q&A after the readings. Wednesday June 8, 7-8:30 pm.
