Coquitlam RCMP has identified several break-in hot spots in its most recent CompStat alert.

According to police, the Port Coquitlam neighbourhood between Lincoln Avenue in the north to Riverwood Gate in the south between Coast Meridian Road and Fremont Street has seen a recent uptick in thefts. Several residences and vehicles were broken into, with most of the incidents occurring overnight on Mondays and Wednesdays.

On the south side of the city, some vehicle break-ins also occurred in the area between Wilson Avenue in the north to Hawthorne Avenue in the south between Reeve and Shaughnessy streets. Police said there were no identifiable patterns in the thefts.

Coquitlam also had a break-in hot spot, according to the most recent CompStat figures. Houses were targeted between Harbour Drive and Como Lake Avenue from Poirier Street in the east to Gatensbury Street in the west and vehicles were broken into on Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays.

As part of its crime-reduction strategy, the Coquitlam RCMP, which polices PoCo and Coquitlam, releases some of its CompStat data to the public to help alert residents to spikes in break-ins and property crime.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call 604-945-1550. If a crime is in progress or there is an emergency, call 911.
