Family, friends and supporters of the Coquitlam teen who died of a drug overdose last week in Port Moody held a public memorial service Monday evening and are seeking help with ongoing costs to the girl's family.
Gwynevere Staddon was 16 when she died Aug. 7, reportedly just days away from her 17th birthday.

She was found in the washroom of a the Starbucks on Ioco Road in Port Moody. The exact cause of her death has not been reported but Port Moody Police said there was drug paraphernalia and a small amount of drugs located at the scene that lead police to suspect a drug overdose. They were unable to confirm whether fentanyl was involved.

A GoFundMe page and an account has been set up to raise funds for a service and ongoing costs. It is available at www.gofundme.com/gwyneverestaddon. As of yesterday afternoon, almost than $4,300 had been collected toward a goal of $30,000.
"We hope the awareness created by Gwynevere's passing and her service will start the change that we need to see in this world. ALL contributions are deeply appreciated," the story on the GoFundMe page explained.
