The bike path that connects Maquabeak Park to Colony Farm has been closed as construction crews continue their work on the Port Mann/Highway 1 improvement project.
A temporary route has been setup along Burbidge Street, connecting with United Boulevard before be routed under the Mary Hill Bypass and connecting with the old trail.
The route consists of a combination of gravel paths, roadside shoulders and is well-signed, according to a press release from the Port Mann/Highway 1 project office.
Cyclists are also warned to stay out of the construction site and to use caution when traveling through the area.
Motorists will also face delays this week along the Lougheed Highway as crews begin to pour a portion of a concrete deck on the new ramp connecting with Highway 1.
The work will continue until Friday, Sept. 9, and will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
During that time the Lougheed Highway eastbound and westbound will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with drivers traveling eastbound between Coleman Avenue and Cape Horn Interchange diverted onto one of the westbound lanes.
Driver traveling on the Lougheed Highway eastbound and driver traveling from Lougheed HIghway westbound to Highway 1 eastbound will be stopped for short periods of time by traffic control personnel.
The loop ramp from Highway 1 westbound to Lougheed Highway westbound will be closed, with drivers using the Brunette Avenue interchange.
The loop ramp from Highway 1 westbound to Lougheed Highway eastbound will remain open and driver traveling from Lougheed Highway westbound to Highway 1 will remain in their existing lane.
