Darby Mills wowed the crowds with her vocal prowess at Port Coquitlam's Castle Park to wrap up the city's Canada Day party.
The July 1 celebrations started at Lions Park with a pancake breakfast and fishing derby before migrating up to the Citadel Heights neighbourhood for more activities, a barbecue — served up by the PoCo firefighters — a beer garden hosted by PoCo's Taylight Brewing and multicultural entertainment.
Headliners Destineak and the Darby Mills Project drew a record number of viewers, city officials say, and a fireworks show by Archangel concluded the full day.
The crowd estimate was 13,500 people — up by more than 1,500 from last year.
