The Coquitlam Foundation (CF) is giving extra time for local non-profits and students to apply for its latest round of community grants, scholarships and bursaries.

As of this week, the organization has extended its deadline well into 2023, giving interested applicants until the end of March to complete the process.

In 2021, CF granted more than $195,000 to community groups seeking financial aid to meet their demands and students looking for a helping hand in their post-secondary studies.

The charitable group, which celebrated 30 years of philanthropy in October, is set to offer up to $3,500 per successful grant submission, according to its website.

"Once applications are received, they are reviewed by a volunteer citizen-based committee appointed by the Coquitlam Foundation and then ratified by the volunteer Board of Directors of the Coquitlam Foundation," reads a release sent to the Tri-City News.

Since January 1992, CF has distributed more than $2.2 million to local groups and organizations that aim to make the community better by providing programs or services for local residents.

Areas of primary regional interest include:

  • Arts and culture
  • Education and literacy
  • Health and community wellness
  • Heritage, historical or conservation
  • Environment
  • Seniors in need

For scholarships and bursaries, there are 17 for current and prospective students to choose — ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 each.

For more information, you're encouraged to visit the funding page of the Coquitlam Foundation's website.

The deadline to apply is March 31 at 4 p.m.

The foundation's annual awards night, when the cheques will be handed out, is tentatively scheduled for June 7 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre.
