Dix should step down - Coquitlam-Maillardville NDP members say

BC NDP leader Adrian Dix is facing a challenge from party members belonging to the Coquitlam-Maillardville riding association.

BC NDP leader Adrian Dix is facing a challenge from party members belonging to the Coquitlam-Maillardville riding association.

The embattled leader is expected to make an announcement this week about his future, possibly as soon as Thursday during his speech at the Union of BC Municipalities Convention.

Some blame Dix and his election team for electoral defeat in May that many predicted they would win.

Coquitlam-Maillardville MLA Selina Robinson is staying mum on her riding association's call for Dix to "voluntarily step down" and didn't return calls from The Tri-City News.

Riding Association president Ann Dubois, who apparently penned the letter, also didn't return calls made by the The Tri-City News.

In May's election, Robinson narrowly hung on to the seat that had previously been held by NDP stalwart Diane Thorne, defeating BC Liberal candidate Steve Kim following a recount.
