Douglas College valedictorian has business on the brain

Aleem Jinnah knows one thing for certain: in 10 years he wants to be his own boss. If his performance at Douglas College is any indication, Jinnah will have no trouble realizing his goal.

If his performance at Douglas College is any indication, Jinnah will have no trouble realizing his goal.

Today, the Coquitlam resident graduates as valedictorian with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a designation in Accountingfrom Douglas College. He's accepted an articling position with Smythe Ratcliffe Chartered Accountants and has recently begun his graduate/professional studies at the CA School of Business.

"Next stop is my chartered accountant designation," he says.
His instructors say Jinnah not only excelled in his studies, but that he enhanced the learning experience of his peers.
"His example encouraged his classmates to be more engaged, andthat made the learning experience better for all of us," says Glen Stanger, Accounting instructor. "He was one of the studentleaders that elevated the Douglas College Business Association from obscurity to being well established. The culture of the entire business faculty is better because Aleem was part of it."
Meanwhile, Jinnah has some advice for students pursuing his field of study.

"Get involved. I got involved with the Douglas College Business Association. My experience with the DCBA has been the single biggest contributing factor to my success. It has opened many doors and helped me create long lasting friendships."
