Laura Dupont announced that she will be seeking a seat on Port Coquitlam city council in this fall's election.

The former vice-president of the Hyde Creek Watershed Society and member of the Burke Mountain Naturalists board of directors said her council campaign will focus on transit issues and making PoCo's downtown easier for small and medium-sized businesses to operate.

As a transit user and citizen advisor of the transportation solutions and public works committee, she said she has experience with the challenges that come with commuting.

"Port Coquitlam residents deserve better transit and I will advocate for a direct rapid bus service and commuter parking to connect us with the new SkyTrain line," she said in a press release.
