Starting Wednesday, you can vote for municipal and school board candidates around the Tri-Cities. Advance polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

COQUITLAM:

Nov. 5: Poirier community centre (630 Poirier St.);

Nov. 8: Dogwood Pavilion (624 Poirier St.) and Pinetree community centre (1260 Pinetree Way);

Nov. 12: Poirier community centre (630 Poirier St.);

Nov. 14: Pinetree community centre.

PORT COQUITLAM

Nov. 5 and 12: Elks Hall (2272 Leigh Sq.).

PORT MOODY

Nov. 5 and 8: Port Moody city hall (100 Newport Dr.).

ANMORE

Nov. 5: Anmore elementary school (30 Elementary Rd.).

BELCARRA

Nov. 5: Belcarra village hall (4084 Bedwell Bay Rd.).

WHO CAN VOTE

You can cast a ballot as a resident elector (if you have lived in the municipality for at least the past 30 days) or as a non-resident property elector (if you have owned property in the municipality for at least the past 30 days).

To qualify, voters must be: 18 or older on Nov. 15, a Canadian citizen, a resident of B.C. for the past six months and not be disqualified from voting.

Two pieces of ID are needed to vote - at least one with a signature - to prove residency and identity.

MAIL-IN BALLOTS

New for this election, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody voters can mail in their ballots if they expect to be away from the municipality during all voting opportunities. Mail-in ballots also can be used by people with physical disabilities, an illness or an injury that prevents them from taking part in the vote.

To apply for a mail-in ballot package, call your city hall (Coquitlam does not have a mail-in ballot).

General election day is Saturday, Nov. 15.
