Barb Hobson served as a School District 43 trustee from 1996 to 2002, three of those years as board chair. She has two children who were educated in Coquitlam and has lived, worked and volunteered in the community for over 30 years, including her current post as president of Place des Arts.
Hobson said in a prepared statement that she will bring fiscal responsibility back to SD43 by creating a strong finance committee to control spending, developing a Whistleblower Policy for staff and addressing class composition through programs of choice for students who learn differently. Hobson maintains that she successfully lobbied for $13 million in increased funds from government when she was board chair.
