Diane Sowden is a 30-year Coquitlam resident who was first elected as school trustee in 2005. She and her husband have raised eight children who attended school in SD43. In 1995, she co-founded Children of the Street Society (COS) and has been the executive director for the past 19 years. Through her role with COS, she has educated thousands of youth in classrooms to prevent sexual exploitation, according to her statement, and is serving her third term as trustee on the board of education for School District 43.

In her press release, Sowden states that she has always been a voice for an education system that meets the needs of all learners. If re-elected, she would focus on being an advocate for adequate funding and support for public education.
