ELECTION 2014: Larry Ryan announces candidacy in Coquitlam

Larry Ryan, a Coquitlam resident of 15 years, has announced that he will be seeking a position as a trustee on the School District 43 board of education.

Larry Ryan, a Coquitlam resident of 15 years, has announced that he will be seeking a position as a trustee on the School District 43 board of education.

Ryan has been involved in the community for many years, dating back with his work as coach with Special Olympics. He has also volunteered his time in a number of community youth and high school sports. Most recently, Ryan was a member of the 2014 Coquitlam Sports Council (an advisory group to the city council).

Ryan, a graduate of UBC, works as a secondary school teacher in Burnaby and holds a Master's degree in Education. He believes his 19 years of teaching experience is an asset to understanding the school system and the demands on a school board.

"I feel it is time for me to step up and be part of the solution. I have always believed in giving back to my community and education is my field of expertise," he state in a press release.
