A longtime Coquitlam resident and youth leader will seek a seat on the School District 43 board of education.

On Tuesday, Rob Bottos announced his candidacy for one of four Coquitlam school trustee positions in the Nov. 15 election.

Bottos has worked with young people since 1992, serving as an assistant Little League coach and Scout leader. He is employed as a life skills worker and helps developmentally challenged adults.

"I am running for school trustee because I believe everyone has a right to participate in community as well as an obligation to give back to one's community," Bottos said in a press release. "Being a school trustee is about more than speaking for students: You must also speak for those who work in our schools."
