Teri Towner has announced that she intends to run for a seat on Coquitlam city council in the upcoming municipal election.

A human resources manager for a B.C. utility company, Towner volunteers with Share Family & Community Services, serves on the DPAC executive, Tri-Cities Traffic Safety Committee and Coquitlam's Sports Council. She hopes to create safer streets, increase the prosperity of Coquitlam families and businesses through local economic development and improve recreation opportunities.

"I want us to ask residents' opinions on issues that affect them, and to value their input," Towner said in a release. "We need to protect our neighbourhoods, our residents and we can do that best by seeking their input on our decisions."
