Thinking of switching from incandescent to compact florescent or LED bulbs? Local retailers and BC Hydro are cooperating to offer incentives to purchase these lower-energy bulbs during October, Power Smart month.
As many as 24 retailers in Coquitlam, including grocery, home renovation, appliance, furniture and drug stores will be offering discounts for purchases of energy-efficient lights, televisions and appliances.
Customers can save up to $6 on select Energy Star compact fluorescent light bulbs and up to $8 on Energy Star LED bulbs.
Some retailers are also offering additional savings on Energy Star fixtures like ceiling fans, and other energy-saving devices like motion sensors for lighting and power bars.
Some retailers are also offering a 12% discount on select energy-efficient Energy Star rated televisions and major appliances, as well as double the mail-in rebates on select Energy Star clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers.
