Evergreen Line meeting on tunnel boring June 17

This meeting will be held in Coquitlam as tunnel boring work continues and comes after a fourth sinkhole developed in Port Moody

The Evergreen Line project team is hosting a community meeting on tunneling operations in Coquitlam in anticipation of the tunnel boring machine nearing Clarke Road, south of Robinson Street.

The meeting slated for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at Banting middle school is a drop-in open house format for residents and comes as the contractors deal with a fourth sinkhole in tunnel construction in Port Moody.

The two-metre wide sinkhole appeared in the middle of the asphalt on Clark Road at Seaview  Drive on Friday and forced lane closures and detours until the road reopened Sunday afternoon.

According to the contractors, EGRT Construction, the sinkhole was the result of ground material that entered a chamber where the tunnel boring machine was stopped for inspection and repairs.

At the Banting meeting, residents will have an opportunity to speak directly to members of the project team.
