Three buildings on Spring Street will be getting a makeover to make way for the Evergreen Line.

The light industrial buildings in the 3000-block of Spring Street will be modified to allow for the construction of the Evergreen guideway along the railway tracks in Port Moody. The Ministry of Transportation has just issued the tender for the project, which is expected to begin this fall and wrap up by early next year.

Motorists may encounter only minimal traffic disruptions and businesses in the area will be notified in advance if required.

The work is part of early construction projects that will pave the way for the Evergreen Line. Other such projects, including the widening of North Road, the installation of power poles in Coquitlam and upgrading the power supply in Port Moody, are already well underway or are nearing completion.

The $1.4-billion Evergreen Line is expected to be finished in 2016.
