Port Coquitlam NDP MLA Mike Farnworth will be gearing up for his sixth election race after receiving his party's nomination on Sunday.
Farnworth, who sought the NDP leadership last year before losing to Adrian Dix, said he is looking forward to getting out on the campaign trail this spring and talking to the voters.
"Serving the people of my hometown is a real privilege," he said. "I'll be working hard during the campaign, listening to voters in Port Coquitlam and asking for their support to continue to provide strong representation for our community."
Farnworth, who has lived in the community for nearly his entire life, was first elected to the legislature in 1991, after serving three terms on Port Coquitlam city council. He was re-elected in 1996, 2005 and in 2009.
So far, the BC Liberals have yet to announce their candidate in the riding.
