Fatburger opens Friday

A famous American hamburger chain will open an eatery in Coquitlam on Friday. Fatburger will have a diner in the old Barnes Wheaton GM dealership, by Ikea on Lougheed Highway. The 2,100 sq. ft.

A famous American hamburger chain will open an eatery in Coquitlam on Friday.

Fatburger will have a diner in the old Barnes Wheaton GM dealership, by Ikea on Lougheed Highway. The 2,100 sq. ft. restaurant with take-out will serve patrons seven days a week.

"We are delighted to bring our newest Fatburger restaurant to the Tri-Cities area in a historic building that the owners have repurposed for a bright future," said Canadian franchisor Frank Di Benedetto, in a news release. "We invite shoppers, businesspeople and residents to include lunch or dinner at Fatburger when their travels bring them into the area."

Other B.C. locations include Squamish, Langley, Ladner, Prince George, White Rock/Surrey, Vancouver and Kelowna.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1952, the Fatburger Restaurant chain has more than 90 restaurants across North America, Hong Kong, Jakarta-Indonesia, Macao and the United Arab Emirates.
