Feedback sought on PoCo biz

Port Coquitlam residents and retailers are being asked for their feedback on how the city can help local business grow.

Port Coquitlam residents and retailers are being asked for their feedback on how the city can help local business grow.

The mayor's task force on business development opportunities launched a survey earlier this month to gauge the public's views on supporting, attracting and retaining business in PoCo.

The poll runs until Sept. 14 and is available online at www.portcoquitlam.ca/bdo; hard copies can also be obtained at city hall and civic recreation facilities.

"The entire community benefits from a healthy business sector through improved services, employment and tax revenue," Mayor Greg Moore said in a press release. "In this economy, we need to make sure we're as competitive as possible and doing what we can to make Port Coquitlam attractive to businesses."

The task force is chaired by Coun. Mike Forrest and includes councillors Brad West and Dean Washington as well as officials from the Downtown PoCo BIA, Tri-Cities' Chamber of Commerce and Urban Development Institute.

Meanwhile, the task force is hosting a networking reception, called PoCo BizForum, on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at the PoCo Inn and Suites. To register, visit www.portcoquitlam.ca/bdo.
