Several occupants of a home on Glen Drive escaped without injury after fire broke out in one of the bedrooms on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place shortly before noon and the blaze did roughly $20,000 to $25,000 in damage to the single-family rental property.
A family was home at the time, but was able to get out of the home before sustaining any burn or smoke inhalation injuries.
Coquitlam fire chief Tony Delmonico said the cause of the fire was still being investigation.
"It just happened, so we don't have a determination yet," he said. "They will have to find a new place to live for a while."
He said the owners of the home have been contacted and and investigators are continuing to comb through the debris.
