Fire breaks out at Coquitlam home

Blaze broke out on Dansey Avenue Monday afternoon

Coquitlam Fire and Rescue crews were busy battling a blaze in southwest Coquitlam Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at a home on Dansey Avenue, where crews arrived to a fully involved house fire.

Fire chief Wade Pierlot said at 3 p.m. that there were no injuries reported and that all of the occupants were able to get out of the home before the fire spread.

"At this point, it looks like [firefighters] have it mostly knocked down," he said. "They are dealing with a roof structure now."

The two-storey structure was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived and Pierlot said firefighters took a defensive approach to battling the blaze once they learned that there were no occupants in the home.
