Fire investigators are still trying to determine what caused a half-built home on Glenbrook Street in Coquitlam to burn down Friday night.
Without any drywall to slow the flames, it did not take long for the building to be fully engulfed and firefighters could only work to contain the blaze.
"The house is a total loss," said Coquitlam Fire and Rescue assistant chief Scott Mackenzie. "It was a quick knockdown. It was pretty spectacular but that's about it."
Mackenzie would not say whether the building was wired or had electrical service. Investigators, he noted, have said the cause of the blaze is undetermined.
It took two engines, a ladder truck and a rescue truck to fight the fire, which singed a neighbouring building that was also under construction.
No one is believed to have been inside the home when the fire broke out.
On Monday, investigators had finished digging around the rubble of the fire and a restoration company was one scene.
Mackenzie said a report on the blaze was expected soon.
