Port Moody added more park space to its roster after approving an official community plan and zoning bylaw amendment this week.
At Tuesday's meeting, council changed the designations of three city properties on Mercier Road, off Ioco Road near San Remo Drive, from single-family to parks and open space.
A staff report notes the properties are forested and Turner Creek runs directly through them. As well, the site is within an environmentally sensitive area identified in the OCP; the Turner Creek ravine and riparian zone provides a partially interrupted wildlife corridor from the north shore to Burrard Inlet.
The creek is a semi-natural drainage channel and historically provided spawning and rearing habitat for salmonids.
