A potentially controversial subdivision project goes before Port Moody council at a public hearing Tuesday.
Members of the public will be allowed to comment on a proposed seven-lot subdivision at 622 Foresthill Pl. in Pleasantside that would leave about 75% of the property, or about four acres, as forest.
But the proposal to create seven single-family homes on the hockey stick-shaped piece of property would also reduce stream setbacks on Bentley and Wilkes Creek by 50% and cut standard lot widths on three of the properties.
Habitat enhancement would also be required because vegetation would have to be removed from near the creeks for road construction, and the applicant is required to submit plans for the roads because they are steeper than those currently allowed.
According to a report to council, the property is in an environmentally sensitive area of the the north shore forest but the proposed land use conforms with the official community plan and is feasible if all recommendations are met.
