Local officials are using social media to get the message out about flu shots.
On Monday, Nov. 21, Fraser Health's Chief Medical Health Officer Dr.Paul Van Buynder will hold a Twitter question and answer session to answer people's questions about flu shots.
The flu season usually runs from November to April with an estimated 10-25% of people infected each year. The flu virus can cause serious illness and every year hundreds of B.C. residents, mostly seniors, die from flu-related illness. Others may suffer a mild illness but risk passing the virus on to someone else who may become seriously ill.
Officials say the best way to protect oneself and friends and family is to get a flu shot.
The Twitter conversation will take place at Monday, Nov. 21 from noon to 1 p.m. Dr. Van Buynder will be tweeting from @Fraserhealth. Follow the live feed using the hashtag #fluQs.
