Free public transit in Metro Vancouver on New Year's Eve

Tri-City revellers looking for a safe ride home on New Year's Eve can hop on the bus, SkyTrain or SeaBus — for free.

TransLink is offering public transit at no cost after 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, until 5 a.m. on Jan. 1.

As well, there will be more service and extended hours during that 12-hour period. 

Buses will run on a regular Saturday schedule with some routes running additional evening and late-night trips after their normal schedules. Riders can also use the NightBus including the N9 between the Lougheed and Coquitlam Central stations.

The SkyTrain, Canada Line, bus and SeaBus will all run back on a regular Sunday/holiday schedule on Jan. 1; West Coast Express and TrainBus will not operate that day.
