Coquitlam will promote the value of drinking water - from the tap - at the first Coquitlam Farmers Market of the season on Sunday.

The city will have a booth at the market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Dogwood Pavilion parking lot to build awareness of BC Drinking Water Week (May 13 to 19), offer information about tap water and provide water conservation tips. Water Wise kits will also be for sale and kids under 12 years old can enter a colouring contest to win a $50 gift certificate to Coquitlam Centre.

"In this region, we are blessed with some of the best drinking water in the world," Coquitlam Mayor Richard Stewart said in a news release.. "This program helps remind us all of the many ways in which clean, accessible water enhances our quality of life."

Coquitlam's water is piped to homes and businesses from the Capilano, Seymour and Coquitlam reservoirs.

Organized by the BC Water and Waste Association, BC Drinking Water Week is an environmental campaign supported by the provincial government.
