The Green Party of Canada now has two candidates for this fall's federal election to challenge Tri-City MPs James Moore and Fin Donnelly.

Small-business owner and artist Brad Nickason, a Port Coquitlam resident, was picked last month to run against Moore in Coquitlam-PoCo.

A member of PoCo's cultural advisory committee, Nickason is the founder and curator of The Peace Art Collective, which advocates the use of artistic expression to create awareness of peace as a global option.

In an email to The Tri-City News, Nickason said he wants to "restore old and develop new funding sources" for communities.

Meanwhile, in Port Moody-Coquitlam, MP Donnelly will face long-time Green Party member Marcus Madsen.

The Port Moody resident has served as the media liaison, treasurer and councillor-at-large on the provincial council for the BC Greens. Last year, he was elected as the B.C. representative to the federal council of the Green Party of Canada. Currently, the German native is the Port Moody-Coquitlam membership director for the federal party.
