Improperly labelled cookies have prompted the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Coquitlam Thrifty Foods store to issue a warning to shoppers with a peanut allergy.

In-store baked peanut butter chocolate chip cookies were incorrectly labelled as chocolate chip and sold in 500 g packages bearing UPC code 0 74147 66187 5 and a best-before date of Jan. 25, 2011. Thrifty Foods launched the voluntary recall after the products were sold at the company's Austin Avenue location.

So far, no illnesses have been reported but the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said people with peanut allergies could face serious or life-threatening reactions to the product.
