Chopper landed on soft soil in Widgeon Valley and its occupants had to be transported by another helicopter
A helicopter was damaged after landing on soft soil at the Widgeon Valley National Wildlife Area on Monday.

Nobody was injured when a helicopter landed Monday afternoon on soft soil in the Widgeon Valley National Wildlife Area and its occupants had to be rescued.

The Coquitlam RCMP said the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. and all of the passengers were picked up by another helicopter and taken to safety.

"It was minor enough," said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. "There was some damage to the helicopter."

Coquitlam Search and Rescue was notified but did not take part in the rescue operation. McLaughlin said the incident falls under the purview of Transport Canada and would not likely lead to further police investigation.
