Here's your chance to help out at Ribfest

Ribfest
Port Moody's annual Ribfest generates a lot of paper towels, so it needs volunteers to ensure they're properly disposed of, as well as other tasks like setting up, running ribs, security and managing children's activities.

There’s no doubt, ribs are messy.

It takes a heap of napkins to navigate a rack slathered in stick barbeque sauce. Multiply that by the thousands expected to attend Port Moody’s fourth annual Ribfest, July 19 to 21, and a lot of hands will be needed to ensure those napkins don’t end up blowing around Rocky Point Park.

The event’s organizers are still looking for volunteers to do tasks like managing the waste and recycling bins, setting up, hosting, serving refreshments, running ribs to guests in the VIP area, managing children’s activities and providing security. Three-hour shifts are available for the daytime, afternoon and evening and volunteers will be compensated with perks and swag.

Last year’s event attracted tens of thousands of visitors who enjoyed the charred, smokey cuisine of six award-winning ribbers. This year the plant-based butchery from Victoria, The Very Good Butchers, will also be grilling up meatless, organic alternatives.
