The Tri-City's biggest sale of second-hand sporting goods will shape up next week in Coquitlam.
And organizers are asking shoppers to get their wallets ready for bargain-basement prices to suit up their kids - or themselves - for next season.
Chris Wilson, executive director of KidSport Tri-Cities, told The Tri-City News his non-profit group is overflowing with donated used goods.
Recently, Inside Edge gave the organization all of its player gear from an April hockey tournament, including 18 full hockey bags, and Dove also handed over dozens of new soccer cleats for youth that were part of a soap campaign.
"We have so much good stuff," said Wilson, who is also a Coquitlam city councillor. "What we really want is for people to come out and buy. You can outfit your child with complete gear for under $100, tax-free."
Last summer's sale at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam brought in more than 1,300 shoppers and generated some $20,000 for the cause - a record amount for the organization. Combined with its spring event, KidSport Tri-Cities was able to provide $130,000 in sporting grants to 635 local kids and teens from low-income families last year.
Wilson said the group is hoping to raise around $25,000 at its Saturday, Aug. 16 sale, which will also be held at the Poirier facility (633 Poirier St.).
As well, for the first time, KidSport will host an extra hockey equipment sale on Saturday, Sept. 6 - after tryouts have started - at X-treme Threads Warehouse (1371A Kebet Way, Port Coquitlam).
Anyone wanting to donate to either sale is asked to drop off their gently used sporting goods - including bicycles, lacrosse gear and sticks, even wetsuits - before Friday, Aug. 15 at:

Port Moody recreation complex (300 Ioco Rd.);
Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam);
