A Coquitlam city councillor is the first municipal incumbent in the Tri-Cities to officially declare his re-election bid.
Monday, Coun. Craig Hodge announced he would run in the Nov. 15 civic contest.
Hodge was elected in the 2011 general election, winning the highest number of votes in Coquitlam's history for a first-time candidate.
He chairs the city's sports council and Riverview Lands and Maillardville Commercial and Cultural Revitalization advisory committees, and is a director on the Metro Vancouver parks board.
He cites the new multi-use dry floor sports facility on Poirier Street and the Tri-City's mobile business licence as achievements in his first term on council. For his next term, Hodge said he wants to work to minimize property tax hikes and preserve residents' quality of life as the city's population swells.
