A Coquitlam entrepreneur and motivational speaker who was once homeless will be a keynote speaker at a TED conference offshoot called TEDxStanley Park.
Joe Roberts who will be pushing a shopping cart across Canada to raise awareness about the plight of homelessness will be talking about overcoming adversity and challenging the impossible.
Several speakers with innovative ideas, including Roberts, have been asked to present at the TEDxStanley Park March 16 at UBC Robson Square. TEDx, is an offshoot of TED, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
TED - which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design - is a U.S. based conference which brings scientists, CEOs, designers, authors, musicians and comedian together to share ideas. It is is moving to Vancouver from its home in Long Beach, California for 2014 and 2015.
Roberts will embark on his his-country odyssey this May in Newfoundland, pushing a cart that was designed by Pinetree secondary students who are members creative problem-solving group called Odyssey Angels. The cart was assembled by mounting an aluminum box made and donated by A & A Steel Fabricators in Port Moody on top of a frame from a high-end Chariot baby stroller donated by the Calgary company.
