In what has become a much-anticipated tradition, the popular convenience story 7-Eleven is celebrating its 44th birthday and the Slurpee season by launching one of Canada's largest giveaways.
On Thursday, July 11, 7-Eleven is serving nearly three-quarters of a million free cups of 12oz Slurpee drinks at all its stores across the country.
For the Tri-Cities, this means that 13,500 12oz Slurpee drinks are up for grabs on the big day. (9,000 in Coquitlam, 3,000 in Port Coquitlam, and 1,500 in Port Moody.)
It's expected that thousands of thirsty kids, tweens, teens and adults will be making their way to Tri-City 7-Elevens for their frosty treat.
"We're always looking at ways in which we can do more to give back to our loyal customers," says Tim Donegan, vice president for 7-Eleven Canada. "We've been listening to what they've been saying and the main thing is that they want more Slurpee. This birthday, for the first time, we're giving away larger Slurpee cups (12oz as opposed to the usual 7.11oz) and more of them. Every store will have 1,500 to give away instead of our usual 1,000. That's a lot more Slurpee drinks."
